Neighbor Day Planning . . . Jun, 2019

Planning activities associated with the first Neighbor Day Celebration to be held at St. James Episcopal Church (1101 N. Broadway) on Saturday, September 28th are currently in full swing. This entertaining event will celebrate the St. James ministries of service outreach to our neighbors and raise money to keep them going!  The celebration will begin with an inspirational concert, continue with a delicious dinner, and conclude with an exciting fundraising auction!

For nearly 100 years, St. James has tended to our neighbors in many different ways.  Today, the Helping Hands Food Pantry regularly provides groceries, breakfast, and fellowship to neighbors in need every other week – year-round.  Four days a week, the Doorstep Ministry provides bag lunches, utility assistance, and resource referrals to neighbors in need.  Twice a month, the VMC Ministry provides meals to the Volunteer Ministry Center as part of their mission to end homelessness.  Six times a year, the Room at the Inn Ministry provides a place for homeless neighbors to eat and have a safe, restful sleep.   The Prison Ministry regularly provides mentoring to citizens returning to society after their release.  In addition, St. James routinely provides meeting space for numerous recovery groups and other neighborhood organizations.
