Strategy – Football

If you are new to the KokOasis Football Challenge and you are trying to formulate a winning strategy, here are some helpful hints:

  1. Don’t be overwhelmed.  It is easier to win than you think!
  2. The most important thing to do is correctly guess the winning team.  If you do that successfully on a somewhat consistent basis, you will earn enough points to earn a respectable ranking and be in the running for winning a prize.  If you want help picking the winners, here are some helpful suggestions:
    • Ask your family or friends who they think will win.
    • Review the favored teams published on the sports pages in the newspaper.
    • Browse the predictions published at sports websites.
    • Pay attention to radio or TV sports shows.
  3. The second most important thing to do is predict a sensible football score.  Almost any score is theoretically possible in football but here are some general principles you may wish to consider:
    • College football games NEVER end in a tie.
    • Each team usually scores between 10 – 30 points.
    • Total points scored in college football games are often around 55 points.
    • Individual team scores in multiples of 3, 7, or 10 are common
    • Final score point differences (margins) in multiples of 3, 7, or 10 are common.
  4. If, for some reason, you don’t have time to make your picks, consider this approach:
    • Decide on one score you will use for ALL games (e.g. 28-21 or 21-28).
    • Guess which team you think will win each game.
    • Assign the score (e.g. 28-21 or 21-28), depending on which team you think will win.
    • Sit back, relax, enjoy the games, and watch your earned point total increase.
